IT trends 2026: AI, cybersecurity and regulation

The IT trends of 2026 point to artificial intelligence consolidating as critical infrastructure, the maturity of European regulatory frameworks (DORA, NIS2, AI Act) and the growing specialisation of roles that combine deep technical competencies with strategic vision. Cybersecurity stops being a cost and is recognised as a competitiveness factor; generative AI becomes part of day-to-day work without replacing human judgement; and digital sustainability starts to influence architecture decisions.

In this hub I bring together the articles where I analyse the trends that will set the technology agenda for the coming months: autonomous AI agents in the PMO, the evolution of cybercrime driven by generative models, the modernisation of COBOL and legacy systems with AI assistance, and the new generation of platforms (platform engineering, FinOps) that bring order and keep costs under control. The foresight is here; the fine print of regulation (EU AI Act, DORA, NIS2, ENS) lives in the Regulatory compliance.
